Areas of Development
Staff development is critical to ensuring event accessibility. Even with universal supports, an accessible venue, and the possibility for accommodations, the inclusivity is dependent on the people who help implement and plan the event. It is critical that staff are aware of:
- The importance and priority of inclusion, accessibility, and Universal Design
- How inclusion and accessibility are implemented in the specific event
- Who to contact with accessibility and inclusion questions
- How to effectively engage with people with disabilities
Inclusion and accessibility are the responsibility of everyone, and staff should not only understand the necessary commitment, but also understand how to help implement the supports.
